The Tamar Valley, Cornwall
I’m spending 4 months housesitting in the United Kingdom and France. My first housesit is in Chilsworthy, a small hamlet close to the border between Devon and Cornwall in the United Kingdom. Three rivers, the Tamar, the Tavy, and the Lynher, wind their way through the valleys while roads and communities have established a foothold on the ridges overlooking the green, green land below.
The tall brick chimney stacks outlined against the sky are a reminder of this area’s mining history. Chilsworthy may now be a strictly residential community, but the two converted chapels and post office are a reminder of its past as a hive of activity.
This is a relatively rural housesit and I’ve been constrained by the steep stretches of road from doing too much roaming, but it’s been worth it for the scenery. I’ll be back in Cornwall, in two different locations, in the first half of February. All the housesits were arranged through Trusted Housesitters.
